Activism bio (charitable work)

Pierce Brosnan actively campaigns to protect animals and their natural habitats and to stop nuclear proliferation. He is a big supporter of Greenpeace and has used his celebrity to act on behalf of other organizations such as the Forest Stewardship Council and Thames 21 (an organization concerned with cleaning up the Thames River ). He also spoke out against the Make-A-Wish Foundation when they allowed a boy to hunt a bear.

In the year 2000 alone, Mr. Brosnan received two distinguished awards for his activism. One, from the Environmental Media Association for his ongoing crusade to better the environment, and another from the International Fund for Animal Welfare, for his work in highlighting the need to protect Laguna San Ignacio as a breeding ground for the Pacific Gray Whale.
